Kabot's proposed $78 million budget will eliminate 48 town jobs next year

Ridiculous....thank you for the info.
So we added a fourth judge, with now new court time added to the schedule. They offer night court but no one needs it.....hmmmm.
Did we need a fourth Judge? How much are we spending to have this added judge? Why was the position even added?
I think that we are the only town court in the state that has four justices.

The supervisor needs to look at this as a "cost cutting measure".
" Oct 8, 09 10:56 AM

Don't forget the new slate roof on town hall.
I guess one of two things exist about the fourth judge on this strand. Either people do not really know if we needed a fourth Judge or not and are not responding.....
people just do not care about the issue and are not responding.
I am frustrated with this issue." Oct 8, 09 6:20 PM

Southampton Town personnel grew while revenues were abundant

So.....it was our local Republican Party who was in power during this time. Why is Chris Nuzzi blaming the Democrats for big government when he was in office for these huge increases?
Why is it only now during an election year that we hear anything from Chris Nuzzi?
He and Linda have got to go!" Oct 16, 09 9:23 AM

Chris Nuzzi sat and watched as the town budget grew by 41%.

He too must go!" Oct 19, 09 1:54 PM

Yea Nicole.....lets start with the unnecessary fourth town justice position.
What a farce...when the fourth justice was added....they did not add any new trials to our supposedly busy court schedule.
Both Nuzzi and Kabot voted for this but did not bother to ask the sitting judges what they thought of a fourth judge." Oct 19, 09 5:05 PM

Southampton Town candidate debate attracts nearly 200 people

Have you heard what Fleming did in NYC after 9-11? She organized, managed and expidited all of the pro-bono legal work done for the victims of the attack.
There were thousands of attorneys who volunteered to help the victim’s families, and it was Bridget Fleming who, on behalf of the city of New York, made that free legal help a reality by setting up a huge free legal aid location in one of the armories in the city. Not only did she handle this massive task but she also helped draft legislation on the state level to deal with the unique circumstances of 9-11.
So when Bridget Fleming says that she is up for bureaucratic tasks, she is not kidding….
I am impressed with her credentials and obviously, I will be voting for her.

Do not think these kinds of management skills are irrelevant to Hampton Bays or any other part of Southampton Town.
Thank God for people like that who step up when needed.
" Oct 22, 09 4:59 PM

Walt.....Did you read the article about town spending in the past decade? Our Southampton Town spending grew 41% in the past seven years. This was done under the Southampton Town Republican machine. Our local GOP raises hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations, the GOP keeps power and the doners get access to town government. EVERY board in town government is Republican so those campaign doners get influence over town government through the Southampton Town Republican Party.

41% budget growth under the Republicans.....and your are afraid of the Democrats?

" Oct 25, 09 8:51 PM

Yes..we know the drill, "Dems will tax you out of your house and home". You try to paint them as such so that the GOP can run the town and keep power, privilages and perks that they are use to having in SH town.

What was printed in the press stated that Town spending went up 41% in the past seven years....REPUBLICAN years. Yes those tax and spend Republicans!
This town has been and is still dominated by the Republicans, and they got us in this mess and no matter who is elected, we all are going to pay for their mismanagement.
41% increase in spending under the Republicans and the People should be afraid of ATH?? " Oct 25, 09 11:43 PM

Are you really Linda Kabot or her husband?" Oct 26, 09 8:29 AM

From 06-09 the Southampton Town PBA has contributed $10830.00 to various campaigns....All republicans...including Linda Kabot. You are just angry, very angry, that they are not backing you...or is it your wife.
Did the PBA donations influence the Republicans? " Oct 26, 09 9:25 PM

Southampton Town Board incumbent Christopher Nuzzi (R,I,C)

II wonder why Chris Nuzzi did not include his time with the Brookhaven Republicans. He was Brookhaven Supervisor John Jay LaValles special assistant during the scandals of that town. In fact that supervisor was forced to resign.
Hey Chris I would not bring that up either if I were you." Oct 29, 09 8:54 PM

Southampton Town Highway Superintendent candidate Alex Gregor (I,D)

Alex Gregor got the endorsements of all of the newspapers. He knows the issues, people and the town. He is a "hands-on" guy who will do the job well.
Gregor has earned my vote!
" Oct 31, 09 9:33 PM

Southampton Town Board candidate Bridget Fleming (D)

Most of the people who now live in our town have come from other places from one time or another. Many are very intelligent, motivated, and dedicated to the community. To imply that because they were not born here, they should not hold office would be a waste of some of the most qualified people in the town. Like so many, Bridget and her husband have chosen Southampton town as their home. She is and attorney and he is a contractor and are raising a family here. For this, and so many other reasons, Fleming has earned my vote and I hope that the people of the town agree.
Good Luck Bridget, you have my vote

Throne-Holst outraised Kabot in election campaign, though supervisor outspent her challenger

Anna Throne-Holst has masters in public administration from Columbia University. Kabot has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and learned public administration under Vince and Skip.
ATH has my vote
" Oct 31, 09 9:57 PM

Southampton Town Highway Superintendent candidate Alex Gregor (I,D)

Yup, and it sounds like Gregor will be Pete Collins' boss. Don't think that Mr. Collins does not have a horse in this race. He is political through and through, and Alex Gregor threatens his inside track with the ruling party.
ABSOLUTLY....I will be voting for Alex Gregor! So will many others. The endorsements of the newspapers have it right and you are just angry about it.
This one party rule in thrown must end
" Nov 1, 09 12:08 AM

Southampton Town Board incumbent Christopher Nuzzi (R,I,C)

He learned from his days in Crookhaven....I did not see that on any of his bullet points of his mailers....hmmmm." Nov 1, 09 12:11 AM

Southampton Town supervisor candidates verbally spar over youth programs, affordable housing in Flanders

Golfbuddy,,,,are you Linda Kabot or her husband? Come on...come clean." Nov 1, 09 12:17 AM

Throne-Holst outraised Kabot in election campaign, though supervisor outspent her challenger

ATH knew that the finances in the town were not right from the start. Kabot was in town hall for years working in the GOP machine and did not recognize any financial problems...even when she was elected supervisor. I suppose that it is not her fault that she does not have the chops for the job.
Anna has my vote!
" Nov 1, 09 7:58 PM

Southampton Town Highway Superintendent candidate Alex Gregor (I,D)

Farm local...are you that desperate. Next time that you make such accusations you should place your own REAL name on your comment.
Shame on you!
" Nov 2, 09 5:34 PM

Southampton Town Highway Superintendent candidate John McGann (C,R)

You say that because McGann had NO IDEA how much money goes into paving a road! " Nov 2, 09 9:58 PM

Longtime hopefuls finally earn wins as highway superintendent, Trustee

Way to go Gregor and Pell! You have taken on and won against the machine. The GOP power brokers out here must be steaming mad.
Well Done!

Bishop's burn pit legislation signed into law

This is a bill about supporting the health and welfare of our troops. God Bless Tim Bishop for supporting this bill and our men and women fighting overseas.
Keep up the good work Congressman Bishop!

Parties eye vacant Southampton Town Board seat in 2010

.Fleming is a highly qualified individual who owns and operates her own successful law firm, she had the most impressive qualifications of anyone in the SH Town races this year, she received the endorsements of all of the news papers. She did not get the Independence line. That is why she lost. Did you notice that ALL of the candidates who had the Independence line won. That party...more specifically....the county chairman of the Independence party will determine who will win the special election in Southampton.
Fleming did get the local Independence nomination over Nuzzi and Malone for the recent election, only to have the County Independence chairman give it to Malone and Nuzzi over the local committee’s choice...and they won.
Fleming would be an asset to Southampton Town Government. I hope that she runs. Our town needs her voice on the board.

Throne-Holst budget revisions approved by Southampton Town Board

Do you all think that SH Town needs four justices?
Remember when the fourth was added he was just added to the rotation. We could save money there." Nov 22, 09 12:09 PM

Frank....I am speechless...the situation that you describe is hard to believe. I hope that the SH Town board revisits the "fourth Town Justice" position." Nov 23, 09 10:05 AM

Bishop asks Paterson for disaster area designation

That is easy for you to say up there in Miller Place.

Thank goodness for the efforts of Tim Biship and his leadeship in taking the lead with this issue." Dec 5, 09 9:22 PM

Double-D....you need to get a grip on reality. Our Congressman is trying to help the shoeline. Why must you all always go to this issue??? This has NOTHING to do with illegal aiens.
Again, thanks to Time Bishop for continuing to be a leader in our communities and helping wiht this serious issue." Dec 6, 09 10:21 AM

Glaciers melt. Beaches move. Deal with it?? Are you for real? Like I said earlier you need to get a grip on reality. I am surprised that you do not blame beach erosion and long shore drift on the illegals. Also, "just remove the jetties"? Have you seen them, they are large and in order to "just remove them" some level of the government would have to foot that bill. Then you would be criticizing them for "just moving the jetties".
Our beaches drive much of our economy out here...thanks to the leadership of Congressman Bishop we can hopefully save one of our most precious/pristine resources.

U.S. Representive Tim Bishop details new initiatives

Do you all remember last year??? Our counrty was faced with economic ruin! It was going to be as bad as the Great Depression. The monies spent by the federal government averted that economic disaster. Did you want the government to do nothing?? They saved our country.
It is bad, real bad but it is the economic situation that was inherited from the Bush administration.

Thank you Congressman Bishop for again standing up for the people of the East end.
" Dec 15, 09 7:31 PM

Wow...blue duck! You forgot to blame the debt, Illegal immigration and climate change on him as well. :)
Bishop is an effective Congressman, and we are lucky to have him as our representative.
" Dec 18, 09 8:05 PM

razza...see my post above...As in "Do you remember last year?"

Also, remember that most of our debt came from the Bush administration.
Were you this zealous against an unjust war in Iraq which cost more than a trillion dollars and 4000+ American lives?

Tim Bishop is an effective Congressman and we are lucky to have him as our representative." Dec 18, 09 10:35 PM

Economic disaster was upon us! General electric could not get short term loans to cover expenses. Bear Sterns went under. We were looking at a collapse of our economy. Peoples life savings were in jeopardy. Our government had to act, and they did. Now all of you folks on the far right are going to blame the financial mess and the debt on a president who has been in office for a year....who averted or delayed and economic disaster

By the way....What are the Real steps to which you refer? You offer criticism with out substance. Remember that Hoovers trickle down did not work.
