Westhampton Beach does not want to offer police chief a new contract

Since this pathetic little worm of a man thinks he is on par w/ NYC Chiefs why not send him there for a while? Make it part of his contract and see how long he lasts in the City. He would not last a day and come back to WHB with his tail between his legs crying for his mama. What was he actually doing while racking up all this comp time?
Probably feeding his delusions of grandeur more doughnuts..." Aug 20, 09 7:10 AM

Kabot won't appeal to Board of Elections

Ahhh, more lies from Kabot. $8000.00 to appeal the B.O.E. decision? No, that is simply not true. There are lawyers available though the Party that handle this type of thing every election cycle - and for free. And what would Kabot have called her own challenge to Heaney & Stinchis petitions had she not cut a deal and abandoned it? Would everyone be screaming about Kabot calling their petition signers frauds?? This is just more smoke & mirrors and blame from Kabot.

The real story should be the reported $80+ million dollar Town budget, with almost $50 million in employee costs alone. Was our budget not around $60 million this year, not counting the $10-$20 million that is "lost"....... Add it up and we could be faced with almost $100 million in costs for 2010. For what? and where will they get the $$$.

I voted for Kabot believing she would follow the Republican tradition of small government and fiscal responsibility. Boy was that a lie. Dump Taxbot." Sep 3, 09 11:02 AM

Golfbuddy - on the local & County level there are many lawyers involved in politics. Each Party has a crew of lawyers who have signed up to help with petition challenges. The Party itself can certainly bring in outside Counsel, but can only pay for it if there is no primary involved. So, around petition time lots of these volunteers ready themselves to defend signatures. I watched this whole process as a petition carrier many, many years ago. I was impressed at how impartial the B.O.E. people were.

Remember when Kabot was whining about the cost of a special election, saying it would cost tens of thousands of dollars? The B.O.E. was quoted in this paper that it would not cost anything - all part of the process.

If Kabot would take even a shred of responsibility for even some of her mistakes, I might consider voting for her again. But lie after lie, all the while blaming everyone else........... As a Republican I am unsure what to do come Election day." Sep 3, 09 1:10 PM

Actually Golfbuddy there are a group of Supreme Court Justices who handle these cases too. The fee to file w/ the S. Court is less than $400.00. Call the B.O.E if you
have any doubts, they will be happy to explain the process in detail. Or, look it up online. It's a neat process, I have followed a few challenges over the years. Besides, where do you think Town Attorneys come from - the Party faithful.......

Not a Dem, no axes here - I prefer a chainsaw. I like to look @ local news and make both intelligent comments and sarcastic ones. I actually do not like most Politicians - nothing personal. I do like making fun of them though.........lol

If you say I'm insane GBuddy - then it must be so.............lol. But then, I'm not ranting about sending people to communist countries and the like. Funny, funny stuff.

I just like making a point here & there about Politicos when they get caught doing stupid things. I find it funny when people write opinions & comments that others disagree with they are immediately called insane. You must be a Limbaugh fan there buddy, but then - what do I care.

The bottom line is we have out of control spending here in SH Town, no-one wants to take responsibility and we the residents & taxpayers are getting screwed. If you read my posts, I do not like ATH either, but will give her 2 years, as we did with Kabot. If ATH cannot do the job, we can dump her in 2 years - no biggie......." Sep 4, 09 11:12 AM

Of course they wont Brian, it's simple economics........ This is about ad revenue and
neither Brautigam or the E Hampton pols who are in legal trouble advertise in the Press. The comment section on the E Hampton Pols is still running, as are comments
about others. You should know better than most that if they piss off Kabot they will
not get access/interviews etc. etc.

The harshest & worst comments I have read are always in articles about hiring halls and illegal immigrants. Will they not allow comments on those in the future too?" Sep 10, 09 9:22 AM

Proposed change to Southampton Village code would allow archers to shoot deer on their property

As it is the mice that are the biggest carriers of deer ticks, can we pass an ordinance
to shoot them with bows too? It would certainly make it all more interesting.......

Exactly what keeps deer in other areas from moving into SH Village, Quogue or N Haven? Are there roadblocks & checkpoints?

Personally, I think we should microchip & sterilize all elected officials in the Town, they have made a much bigger mess than the deer. Excellent recipe NSea, have an almost
identical one myself." Oct 13, 09 10:03 AM

Trespassing charges dropped against East Quogue woman arrested near ANG base; wrongful arrest lawsuits filed

It seems base security is the issue here - as there were no gun charges. If security is the issue - then why is the entire bases southern border wide open?
I jog at a Refuge that borders the base several times a week. All there is on the south side of the base is a 5 foot fence with many gaps. In fact, there is one gap the hunters from the base use to get on Refuge property - with their guns & bows by the by. They also have a small racetrack where they race base vehicles & personal vehicles around & around.

If this was all about base security - then why is the southern border open & unprotected? No security cameras either....... Have a jog or walk & see for yourself." Dec 1, 09 10:56 AM

Long winter, short beaches—a worrisome combination as erosion season arrives

Actually HHS, the paper has done a good job establishing Mr. Terchunians bona fides. Simply do a search, find the articles about him creating his own "Baykeeper" job in Quogue Village. Mr. Terchunian and a "restaurant owner" put the bogus "group" together to counter the good work of our actual Baykeeper. Terchunian lost a lawsuit, has no credibility and should not be allowed to mess with our beaches. He even had a truck mocked up that he parked all the time in Quogue w/ anti Peconic Baykeeper signs on it.

It would be interesting to document the properties he is "working on" and see how much more damage is done by this hack.

Oddone sentencing postponed

Yep, good update. Hope he gets a long sentence.

Isn't the felonious ex Mayor Motz of Quogue due to be sentenced Friday? Will we get an update on that too?" Jan 28, 10 7:05 AM

Former Quogue mayor will be sentenced on April 28

His house is part of his bail - and probably will go towards restitution for the people he stole from and defrauded..

I may be wrong, and feel free to correct me......but can a Judge stay on the bench while married to a convicted Felon? Or does Mrs. Motz need to resign now?" Apr 21, 10 9:30 AM

Officials want to use Southampton Town's Community Preservation Fund to save Stony Brook Southampton

Lets look @ these elected orificials & review..

Southampton Town is missing millions & broke.
Suffolk County is broke.
NY State can't pass a budget and is seriously broke.

and these fools want to borrow from the CPF to fund the College? I wonder if any of them would take a cut in their own bloated salaries to help fund the effort....I doubt it.

A list of these greedy pigs should be made & every one voted out of the orifice they occupy. " Apr 23, 10 7:27 AM

Sag Harbor code officer fired for inappropriate use of village computers

Well, if he was looking @ porn..........he might get a job w/ the SEC!" Apr 24, 10 8:00 AM

Motz sentenced to 8 years in federal prison

Probably a good thing the Judge did not look into his "service" as Mayor - he would have gotten more time.

And will Mrs. Motz be resigning now? Or will Quogue have a Judge married to a convicted felon? And why not!" Apr 28, 10 5:02 PM

Curious the other big news in Quogue is not on the Site yet......Seems the felonious Mayors Village Board allowed no less that 7 people to install geo-tubes on the beach. Now they are going to Court as our Town Trustees are on the ball.

Looks like business as usual in Quogue.....and why not!" Apr 29, 10 4:17 PM

Hey barnbabe - ya want a Judge who is married to a convicted felon? A convicted felon who is headed to prison? A Judge who was "upset by the verdict" handed down to her husband? An impartial Judge would have taken the verdict the way they are handed down.

Oh, your in WHB - never mind.......You folks like screwed up systems & crooks there too." Apr 30, 10 3:50 PM

Kudos to the Editor for clarifying the reality of the charges.

Could he shed any light on the legality of a sitting Judge being married to a convicted Felon? Not saying she should divorce him, or that she new about the Fraud. A simple question about legality, that's all.

Rally held to support push for federal immigration reform

I love reading these "discussions". I'd guess that the Native American Indians had similar chats........say in the late 1400's? The rush of immigrants did not bode well for them.

In 20-30 years, when white folk are the tiny minority - what will the majority do with us? Send us all to Arizona I suppose.... I wonder if they will let us open Casinos......?" May 6, 10 3:57 PM

Westhampton Beach Village tables disciplinary hearings again; former police officer blasts mayor, police chief

On the upside, these fools & crooks are making the Quogue PD look good! lol" May 9, 10 1:10 PM

Westhampton Beach detective suspended, faces disciplinary hearing

A investigation by DA Spota? Are you kidding? Spota does not have the authority, jurisdiction or clout to investigate this or any other Police Dept. Even if Spota had any of those things, he would never be allowed to proceed.

And HHat - Red Clown Noses are already standard equipment in Quogue - maybe try dunce caps in WHB. lol" May 19, 10 8:51 AM

Mattituck woman will receive six months for DWI fatality involving Hampton Bays teen

This shows the value Spota puts on life - zero!

Sag Native - elections will not matter - Spota is cross endorsed. He is bought & paid for by the Political bosses & the PBA. The same people he takes his orders from." May 28, 10 6:29 AM

Police cite 21 on drug charges at Neptune Beach Club over holiday weekend

Hey Jhampton - leave the Barn outta this. There are no drugs there, and it's the PBA cash cow. " Jun 3, 10 7:29 AM

Officer makes charges of favoritism in Westhampton Beach PBA

Not sure who is a bigger Joke........the WHB Cops or the childish politicos posting comments. No wonder WHB has such a bad reputation, do you folks ever get along? Or is it all about the hate?" Jun 12, 10 5:55 AM

Town delays approval of Quiogue subdivision after contamination concerns are raised

In a previous article Mr. Cardo stated "that he is only an excavator and not in the business of selling or constructing homes."

See www.27east.com/story_detail.cfm?id=227903 for his previous comments. Now it is referred to as his construction project in this article.

So what are you Randy? An excavator? A builder? Or a pathological liar?" Aug 25, 10 9:06 AM

Quogue Village Police Chief Collapses At Town Event

While I do hope Coughlin feels better, to say he is "well respected" is a complete joke. This is the Quogue PD folks - the worst of the worst and as dirty as they get.

Coughlin is no better than the last POS Chief - you know, the one who tore up the WHB 7-11 while wasted recently.

Well respected?? That's the funniest thing I have read here in a long time." Jan 19, 11 10:58 AM

Group Pushing For Religious Boundary Files Suit Against Southampton Town, Westhampton Beach And Quogue

If up to Quogue - why do they not simply let the Police handle the problem as they do with everything else?? Have em pull over the Jewish folks, harass em constantly, maybe even go after their young children (a popular pastime of the Quogue PD). Draw down on then every time they are in the Village & scream expletives at them 24/7. Threaten the elderly too!!

That's how it works in Quogue - so why treat them any differently??

and why not!!" Jan 19, 11 11:02 AM

Jury Verdict In Kabot Case: Not Guilty Of DWI

Looks like yet another fine pc of Police work for WHB!!! Keep it up!

Look on the upside guys - if they get the boot in WHB - their is always a strong future in Quogue for em. They take rejects from anywhere in that Dept.

I wonder what the lawsuits will cost WHB taxpayers???" Feb 8, 11 2:57 PM
