President Donald Trump To Fly Into Gabreski Airport On Friday

Mr. President, Best of luck with your fundraising event here on Long Island’s beautiful East End. All of your loyal supporters in New York State’s 1st Congressional District stand behind you and are looking forward to a Republican victory in the upcoming 2018 midterms. Thank you for the personal sacrifices you’ve made for us and for our nation. Let’s keep on keeping America great." Aug 16, 18 7:37 PM

The most dangerous bigotry I see now is the bigotry that people have towards each other, based not on their skin color, but the color of their party. Doesn’t mixing red and blue make a more interesting shade of violet? Think about it. " Aug 16, 18 8:41 PM

UPDATE: President Trump Arrives In Southampton

A question for this group:
If an administration of ours were to support a neighboring country’s immigration policy with the following criteria would you defend or denounce the administration?

Mandated separation of noncriminal children over age 12 from noncriminal parents each to be detained in same or separate detention facility, some facilities not accommodating children over age 12 resulting in different facility.
Mandated separation of noncriminal husbands from noncriminal wives each to be detained in same detention facility.
Discretionary separation of noncriminal children under age 12 from noncriminal parent each to be detained in same detention facility.
Immigration policy of neighboring country drafted by US excluding detention policies derived from laws of neighboring country.
Funding of neighboring country’s immigration program whether in whole or in part by US, leaning more towards in whole.
The enforcement of neighboring country’s immigration policy, in part, including active involvement of DHS and its employees enforcing immigration within boundaries of neighboring country including but not limited to manning checkpoints, providing training, managing and overseeing operations, and apprehending illegal immigrants." Aug 18, 18 8:45 PM

The administration described is Obama’s and the country is Mexico. Would liberals and the media decry their Deporter in Chief’s complicity with other nations’ policies that closely mirrored policies of the Trump administration? Probably not." Aug 19, 18 9:12 AM

Since Fred appears to be moderating the commentary, my question to Fred is, would you denounce, support, or be outraged by an administration’s complicity in separation of families beyond the United States borders if the criteria I stated were substantiated and accurate? " Aug 19, 18 2:05 PM

Senate Review of
the Department of Homeland Security’s Missions and Performance:

The Department consistently has not enforced the nation’s immigration laws. Immigration experts, including some former DHS officials, point out that a person living in the United States illegally faces an extremely slim chance of facing consequences for violating federal immigration laws. Although DHS instituted a policy to focus its law enforcement and removal efforts on criminal aliens, the Department has even failed to ensure that criminal aliens are detained or removed from the country, putting public safety at risk. The recent announcement to end the Secure Communities program and replace it with a new initiative suggests a further shift away from immigration enforcement, including enforcement related to criminal aliens. The Department’s lax approach to immigration law enforcement, and broad applications of prosecutorial discretion with regard to enforcing immigration laws also exacerbates DHS’s challenge securing the border. Rather than deterring illegal immigration, lax immigration enforcement creates an expectation that people entering the nation illegally or violating the terms of their visa will be allowed to stay, facing no consequences." SDG, Working in the administration and human resource end of things in a business segment that’s been hit particularly hard with undocumented labor, you pretty much nailed it. We get a pretty good idea how competitors operate with their illegal hiring and employment practices when interviewing new hires, many of the businesses are operating pretty much as you described. We implemented e-verify in 2014 after having receiving notices from SSA of #’s not matching for several employees. The use of false instruments is widespread, yet is often easily recognizable, but some do go undetected. So far it’s been effective for us. Although we rarely outsource to independents, we only work with contractors who have implemented e-verify as well. Businesses that utilize undocumented labor have created unfair competition and we’ve seen many smaller businesses shuttered over the years with reduced quality of life as you mentioned, particularly with skilled independent tradespersons. I hoped that we would have seen increased local enforcement against businesses with the new administration rather than targeting immigrants with only minor infractions. I agree that the root of the problem are businesses. They are the ones who laid out the welcome mat. Those business owners would look cute in shackles as they’re being escorted onto the buses. Trump wants to give America back to the American and law abiding legal residents. I hope he can accomplish this. Our business team supports Trump, a large part of our team being Latino immigrant citizens who voted for him and non voting resident immigrants as well.

Lyndon B. Johnson, Democrat, his approval rating was the same as Clinton’s, so were his affairs:

“By many accounts Lyndon Johnson was not a nice man. He is described by many people as bullying and domineering, and his style of interpersonal relations that he used to intimidate people was called "the Johnson treatment" or simply "the treatment". Johnson could be very personable style, especially when it came to dealing with women. In 1982, a woman named Madeleine Brown held a news conference held at the Dallas Press Club, at which she claimed that she was Johnson’s mistress for 21 years. Brown said that Johnson set her up in a two-bedroom home with a maid and gave her credit cards and cars. She also described Johnson as “kinky” and said that their meetings would generally last around 30 minutes.”

“”He once bragged that he’d “had more women by accident than Kennedy ever had on purpose.” When Johnson became President, he continued to cheat on his wife, even in the White House. Once, after Lady Bird walked in on her husband having sex with one of his secretaries on a sofa in the Oval Office, an angry Johnson ordered the Secret Service to install a buzzer system to alert the President whenever his wife was close by. This incident occurred just months after he took office. A former Secret Service agent said, "if we saw Lad Bird heading for the elevator or stairs, we were to ring the buzzer." “

Always a double standard, the left seeming to forget the 1996 United States campaign finance controversy involving efforts by the People's Republic of China to influence domestic American politics prior to and during the Clinton administration and also involved the fund-raising practices of the administration itself. In July 1998, the Justice Department's campaign finance task force head, Charles La Bella, sent a report to Janet Reno also recommending she seek an independent counsel to investigate alleged fund-raising abuses by Democratic party officials." Additionally, La Bella stated: "If these allegations involved anyone OTHER THAN the president, vice president, senior White House or DNC and Clinton-Gore '96 officials, an appropriate investigation would have commenced months ago without hesitation."
A CNN/Time poll taken in May 1998 found 58 percent of Americans felt an independent counsel should have been appointed to investigate the controversy. Thirty-three percent were opposed. The same poll found that 47 percent of Americans believed a quid pro quo existed between the Clinton administration and the PRC government.
The left also tends to forget about the Clinton’s-Gore finance probe involving financier Franklin Haney, a longtime friend of Gore and the controversy surrounding it." Sep 1, 18 2:15 PM

The Commander in Chief is ultimately responsible for anything under his watch. Obama did nothing personally to hinder or divide. He earnestly attempted to improve race relations on all fronts, however the consensus’ perceptions seem to be otherwise which is reflected in the polling. Polling questions are often closed ended without providing reasons why, and provide little substantiation as do some of the comments. I can understand your wanting to press an individual to substantiate a normative statement which is often nothing more than a closed ended value judgement.

Having attended two universities in the 1980s and early 1990s, incidents similar to Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations were all too commonplace both on and off campus. Nearly 25% of all female students at my almae matres were victims of sexual assault by today’s standards. The terms acquaintance, date, or campus rape hadn’t even been coined in my earlier college years. Many male alumni of mine are current elected officials, and a few of them would be guilty of similar offenses. Maybe I’ll get together with my sorority sisters and prepare letters to raise inquiry against Democrat incumbents just before Midterms, to even things out and to shake things up a bit. I now feel it’s my civic duty to do so.

Community Members Urge Southampton Town To Consider Legislation Limiting Local Police From Communicating With ICE, Honoring Warrants

Below is an excerpt by two former Suffolk County Democratic elected officials:
“The proliferation of illegal immigrants is threatening the basic harmony and quality of life in the suburbs of Long Island. Illegal immigrants are hurting the county’s economy by driving down wages that would otherwise be paid to legal residents, immigrants or not. Illegal immigrants are driving up costs for schools, hospitals, jails, courts and the police, and Suffolk taxpayers are unnecessarily footing the bill. Government has failed to address the problems of illegal immigration or to stem the flow of undocumented immigrants, and local governments must take up the slack. The policy of having county police officers look into the legal residency of anyone arrested and having them check the names against a federal database of illegal immigrants results in a dramatic increase in the number of illegal immigrants turned over for deportation. The aim of all these measures is to protect residents who do not want to see their neighborhood turned upside down. The problems of rising taxes and illegal immigration are two sides of the same coin, and illegal immigrants are warned, you better beware.”

If you google and read the following article it might explain a little about the girl you mentioned and some of the reasons for her unhappiness, including details on discrimination related work injuries. Raymond Herrera was a dreamer too, a dream turned nightmare for many.

“My name is Raymond Herrera, I am an American Carpenter and also an American General Contractor, out of work and out of business in America's booming construction industry.

As an American tradesman, 34 years experience as a carpenter, a licensed General Contractor in Arizona and California, both failed business ventures due to the lack of American tradesmen, not for the lack of work in America.

They failed not because I lacked trade skills, a strong work ethic, business knowledge, or the lack of work in America's construction industry. Rather they failed because of Illegal Immigration and the Immoral American Developers and Contractors, who hire vast numbers of Illegal Mexican Immigrants rather than their fellow American workers.

The hiring practice of these American Developers and Contractors, the unabated invasion of illegal Mexican Immigrants have destroyed The American Tradesmen, the American Contractor and The American Dream for their American families.”

FBHBG,
Getting back to with my answer to your question about businesses benefiting from cheap labor.
No doubt they do. Take Asplundh for example. They employed thousands of illegal aliens, the bulk of their contracts being public works projects, with annual revenues tipping $4 billion. They were able to undercut and knock out their competition through illegal and unfair trade practices, monopolizing geographical markets in many instances. In 2017 they were hit up with a $95 million dollar fine for illegal hiring practices, the largest ever-fine for an immigration violation.

The following quote pretty much sums things up:

“By using undocumented workers, the company could offer them less pay and no benefits. By doing this, they lowered their overhead and were able to undercut their competitors’ pricing, thereby hurting the livelihoods of those companies (and their employees) who abided by the law. They shut out legal immigrants from opportunities that they deserved. And please, don’t blame a workforce shortage. There are many out there who would do the work if compensation was fair. But how to raise wages when companies like Asplundh (and their corrupt executives) keep them depressed by employing undocumented aliens?
Everyone knows that the immigration problem in this country needs better laws and more clarity. Everyone appreciates the value of immigrants and are grateful for the opportunities that America provided to their ancestors who migrated here. Unfortunately, some prefer taking harsh measures like deporting entire families and taking the chance away from “dreamers” to make a difference. But more unfortunate is the behavior of companies like Asplundh, which make it much more difficult for those who sympathize with the plight of illegal immigrants to fight on their behalf.”

Mets Fan, It’s not that they can’t get people to do the work, many employers don’t want to pay legal payroll overhead, seeking out illegal labor to increase their bottom lines. Legal payroll overhead adds as much as 40% onto the cost of conducting “legitimate” business which includes paying Worker’s comp, SUI, liability insurance, and employer’s share of FICA/Medicare contributions. I know many highly skilled artisan contractors and tradespeople, as well as laborers, who work circles around the unskilled illegals in both quality and productivity and gladly do the crap jobs that you claim nobody wants to do. I see a lot of talented blue collar Americans scratching around for work, picking up odd jobs whenever they can just to sustain, even in our current economy. Try going to the Southampton Chase drive through at dusk on Fridays. It’s worse than the 7-11. There you will see the labor whores withdrawing and handing out cash to the illegal hoards standing along the roadside. Are you familiar with the term money laundering? It’s disgusting. " Nov 2, 18 10:58 AM

June Bug, I am in total agreement with you. I made the suggestion in a prior comment that illegal immigrants are the exploited victims, yet reviled. Cause and effect need to be defined, illegal immigrants not being the cause, the cause being persistently overlooked. I agree that we would not be having this debate if as much attention were given to the cause as is given to the more often “demonization” of the illegal immigrant, particularly under this administration." They also crossed the line and broke the law by violating noise ordinances by utilizing an amplified device exceeding the 55 dB(A) evening noise limits in a residential district, sound being measured at the property line. The gathering was disorderly and menacing, and wasn’t just a group simply exercising their 1st amendment rights. Protests and gatherings are codified under DC law. Please note the word “menace” in the code section below:
