Hampton Bays Vigil Calls For Renewed Push For Immigration Reform

No, Yaja, they should go to the back of the line. The United States OF America abides by the Rule of Law, which must govern the immigration process. Amongst the duties of the federal government in the Constitution is the duty to secure the national border. Thus background checks are done in order to ensure immigrants aren’t criminals or terrorists. Also, it must be proven that immigrants will utilize their right to migrate by working and that they won’t become a burden to other citizens. Overall, those who follow the law must be rewarded, and those who break it must abide the consequences.
This assumes, of course, an administration that follows the Rule of Law!" Sep 17, 13 10:42 PM

What I did, Phil, was to credit Justice Breyer with authoring the decision to release almost 3000 convicted alien sex offenders onto the streets of America. Clinton appointee or not, he be the author.

Some conservative appointed justices did agree, but the voice of dissent rings true. Justice Antonin Scalia (a Reagan appointee), writing for the minority, said: "Insofar as a claimed legal right to release into this country is concerned, an alien under final order of removal stands on an equal footing with an inadmissible alien at the threshold of entry: He has no such right."

Concurring, Justice Anthony Kennedy (another Reagan appointee), noted that "the authority to detain beyond the removal period is to protect the community, not to negotiate the aliens' return... An alien's admission to this country is conditioned upon compliance with our laws, and removal is the consequence of a breach of that understanding."

Justice Clarence Thomas (George H W Bush) and William Rehnquist (Reagan) also expressed dissension from Breyer's opinion.

The GAO report also revealed that large numbers of convicted alien sex offenders that ICE did in fact manage to deport from the country simply turned around and came back in- and committed yet another sex crime while inside the U.S. And it would appear our border will remain porous for the foreseeable future.

I just hope none of these guys end up in your neck of the woods, Phil." Sep 18, 13 12:29 AM

Delusion is a false belief. It is a fact that 2,837 convicted alien sex offenders were released into our communities. Is that not something to fear? You being the champion of women's rights I would think this would concern you. I would prefer they be kept locked up. Do you condone their release?" Sep 19, 13 9:59 AM

Gosh, phil...the way you harangue everyone to "answer my question" I would think you might respond to mine: As you have stated, "the far right wing judges would have preferred to keep the (illegal sex offender) immigrants locked up"... do you condone their release into our communities?
Please, answer my question!

Detroit trustees doled out nearly $2 billion in UNdisclosed holiday "bonuses" to Detroit city workers and retirees negotiated by the city and its unions.
The union-brokered $2 billion bonus revelation comes as President Barack Obama sent a White House delegation led by Attorney General Eric Holder to Detroit on Friday to announce a $320 million aid package. Damned republicans.

"The cupboard is bare. There's no more cuts to make." That's what Nancy Pelosi told the country right before the government shutdown.
This past week, the Department of Veterans Affairs bought $562,000 worth of artwork.
In a single day, the Agriculture Department spent $144,000 on toner cartridges.
In a single purchase, the Coast Guard spent $178,000 on “Cubicle Furniture Rehab.”
The Federal Bureau of Land Management paid $98,670 for an outhouse in Alaska
President Obama sending $100 million of taxpayer funds to the Michigan spendthrifts who bankrupted Detroit.
But no funds to keep an open-air memorial open to the Greatest Generation!
The last three GAO reports have identified over $200 billion of overlap and redundancy in federal expenditures.

If Congress can impose a health-insurance mandate, then there is no limit to what Congress can do, and the Constitution’s limits on congressional power will have essentially been eliminated." Oct 6, 13 11:53 PM

The government has never required all Americans to purchase any good or service. An individual mandate to purchase a particular product from a private party, with tax penalties to enforce it, is unprecedented and flies in the face of our founding principles. Nowhere in the Constitution is Congress given the power to mandate that an individual purchase a good or service and no decision of the Supreme Court justifies such a claim of power. A Washington Post/ABC News poll released on Oct. 7 found that 70 percent of Americans disapprove of Republicans, 61 percent disapprove of congressional Democrats, and 51 percent disapprove of President Obama. A Pew Research survey released the same day found that while 38 percent blamed Republicans for the shutdown, 30 percent blamed President Obama. Another 19 percent blamed both Republicans and Democrats, while 13 percent were unsure who to blame.
A CNN poll also released on Oct. 7 found that while 63 percent of Americans are angry at the GOP, 57 percent of Americans are angry at Democrats and 53 percent are angry at Obama. “Independents are equally angry at all sides, with 59% of Independents very or somewhat angry at the Democrats, six in 10 angry at the GOP, and 58% angry at Obama,” the CNN poll also found, showing a statistical tie.

Too many scandals to keep track of. I was responding to the joe hampton comment about there not being a "smidgen" of corruption, as claimed by Dear Leader in his interview with O'Reilly, concerning the IRS scandal. 41 witnesses and not one of them has been interviewed by DOJ or FBI.
