The Fate of the Canoe Place Inn still hangs in the balance

Why does Anne Throne-Holst waste taxpayer dollars i.e. her time & salary, preserving an unimportant building? And, a condo project on the other side of the canal has nothing to do with 88 Canoe Place so why make a permit pertaining to one be contingent on the other? The word is out...everyone knows it's hard to do business on the East End because of local gov't. This cycle of bargaining and wasting time needs to be addressed." Oct 26, 10 3:38 PM

Kabot To Wage Write-In Campaign Against Throne-Holst For Southampton Supervisor

I've only been a resident a short time but I'm inclined to vote for anyone BUT Ms. Throne Holst. Ms. Kabot, please be sure to publicize your priorities and position on key issues. Thank you.

Throne-Holst And Team Release Campaign Video

I am an independent voter. I'd been leaning toward writing in Kabot. This clinched it. With 11 minutes, ATH should have detailed accomplishments and plans. Think about it...if she had accomplishments or innovative plans/solutions, don't you think that would have been the core of the video? Of course. Therefore, they must not exist. Major, major red flag." Oct 28, 11 9:30 AM

Town Will Go To Court, If Necessary, To Stop Homeless Shelter At Hampton Bays Motel

I live in the neighborhood and don't object to a shelter if it is run properlly. The trouble is, they never are. In this case, I would like to see that residents are required to obey the law, and that a resident would lose the right to taxpayer support & shelter at the very first offense of drugs, violence, prostitution, or any other illegal activity which is widely known to be associated routinely with shelters. There should be intelligent screening of potential residents - not just a bureaucratic approach but a common sense one. If the Town is unable to monitor the situation, there should be a threshold whereby at a certain level of illegal or disruptive activity (e.g. # of arrests, complaints, etc), the property should revert to a normal residential property and the Town would have to be accountable/responsible for ownership. Common sense & creative solutions, not bureaucracy...PLEASE!" Dec 1, 11 9:33 PM

Flooded Houses Must Be Inspected Before Power Is Restored, Southampton Town Officials Say

What a scandalous lack of leadership on the part of the SH Town Board. The Town's money situation is extremely good, as ATH is always quick to point out. The Board could direct Municipal Works or the Housing Authority to reach out to residents, mobilize electricians from the list of licensees they maintain, and help these people immediately. Noone in Flanders is rich, and some electricians might take advantage of their situation. For these neighbors to have to hire an electrician and then submit paperwork to a bureacracy is a significant mistake. I pray someone on the Board shows the vision and leadership to help these people." Nov 10, 12 9:18 PM

Land Acquired By Town In Hampton Bays For Future Waste Treatment Facility

I would like to know the location of all water treatment plants in the Town of Southampton. How does this location compare? I live in Tiana Shores and that seems like an absurd location for waste treatment...in the middle of people's homes!!" Jul 12, 18 10:42 AM
