Rascally Raccoon Rousted From Southampton High School Bleachers

I only see two cops, against one raccoon. Where was their backup?
Guess the raccoon was a Mariner fan. Go Mariners!!" Apr 10, 11 11:55 AM

Town Police Chief Appointment May Be Clouded By Politics

How come only these two guys are being looked at for police chief? We are about to put someone in a high paying, 20+ year until retirement position, and all we can look at is Tony or Bill? Thats the ****ed up thing. Leave Bill in the village!!!! This town is really starting to stink to high heaven. Almost as bad as Brookhaven." Apr 14, 11 5:58 PM

Former Southampton Village Trustee Sues Over Fire Department Dismissal

Bogus. Harald has always wanted to follow the rules...if he is the one that wrote the rules! No regard for anyone else. No regard for the building dept. and it's inspectors. No regard for rental properties he holds. Yet he is so jealous of Detective Lamison, because Herman has done himself well. ( He had the gonads to give comment to the New York Post on Detective Lamison story.) Thank the good Lord he never got to be Mayor of Southampton Village. Pray he never rund for any position in town govt.

Cannot believe he is sueing the Fire Dept.

Please Southampton Fire Dept, wipe him off your boots once and for all. No settlement!! " May 6, 11 10:26 PM

Epley Envisions Historical House As New Chamber Building

Great idea. Why not put the illegal immigrant hiring hall there too. Matter of fact, let them do the renovation." Jul 21, 11 7:07 PM

Family: Sagaponack Plane Crash Pilot, Passenger On The Mend

Never new planes were able to land...where ever the hell they like. I guess money talks in Southampton Town." Jul 24, 11 8:28 PM

Happy Days for Cliff Foster. This is the year 2011. It is not 1941. Just because it was permitted years ago, does not mean it should be happening today. That area has been developed into a "high end " residential neighborhood.
You need a permit to fart in Southampton Town. Landing planes or helicopters in fields, parking lots or driveways should be frowned upon.

And for the record, my family has been on the East End since late 1800's. I was born in 1963. I have seen the East End progress for that long. Laws change.

Sorry for the mistake, jfg...I should have known better. I was in a hurry to go out sailing. You and ranger should try sailing. Seems like you both need a hobby." Jul 25, 11 6:05 PM

Emergency Responders Respond To Irene

Hats off to the Southampton Highway Dept. They really cleared our roads in short order. All the local fire depts. did a great job carrying out the mandatory evacuation order...letting residences in low lying areas know they were going to be "on their own". The fire houses were manned, and ready throughout the storm. Also, the amateur radio community was activated. HAMS were at the ready to help out as needed when standard communications failed. LIPA is doing a very good job, considering how many areas were effected. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!" Aug 31, 11 5:43 PM

Throne-Holst And Team Release Campaign Video

Great point. I'm going to learn how to vote for a "write in" candidate for the first time in my life! And if I remember... doesn't ATH have a problem telling the truth?" Oct 26, 11 9:03 PM

New Brand Of Politics In The Future For Southampton Trustees

I have never quite figured out how the voting for the Trustees pans out in Southampton Town. It seems like Fred Havemeyer is always the lead "vote getter". Why? He is a nice guy. He does work very hard as a Trustee. That being said...how many people that vote for the trustees, ever have any dealings with them? How many actually know how hard Fred, Jon, and Ed work for this town? I do think there should be term limits.

Students Weigh In On Future Plans For Cold Spring Pond Preserve

And how much money will be needed for annual care for this project? The trustees do not maintain the properties they currently have." Dec 20, 11 5:59 PM

East End Dive Teams Are Always Training For Emergencies

I enjoy listening to the Police, Fire and EMS crews. I was listening during the event in Hampton Bays. I was amazed at how quickly the dive teams from the POLICE AND FIRE DEPT. were on scene. The police were exceptional. The Southampton Town Police, Field Supervisor...a woman, should be noted for her very smart and professional performance. Everyone involved did a fantastic job given the situation. With this gentleman's age, the water temperatures and the north wind that day...I do not believe he had much chance of survival . Still, unbelievable work by Southampton Town Police and local Fire/EMS. " Jan 16, 12 5:30 PM

Noyac Road Restrictions Not Viable Some Say

How come "speed cameras " are not used in Southampton Town? County Road 39 is a joke. Try doing the speed limit, of 35 miles per hour, you'll be amazed at the cars that fly by you doing 55-65 MPH.

Also...how come the police are not writing "tailgate tickets"? I do the speed limit. I am never in a hurry to get from one place to another. But doing the speed limit, often puts people 5 feet of your rear bumper.

Best wishes Ted. You were always a pleasure to deal with." May 8, 12 6:03 PM

Chief Wilson Marks A Tumultuous 12 Months

Poor Bill...26 years being a cop, and one year with the circus. " May 16, 12 9:28 PM

I do not know. I have a lot of respect for our police. Bill Wilson has a lot more knowledge on how to run a police dept. than the town board. I am an avid scanner listener. Our police do a very professional job, along with our EMS and Fire Depts. When the gentlemen drove into the canal this past winter, if you were listening in on a scanner, you would have been amazed how quickly they had mobilized. And the smart decisions that were made by the police...on being keeping the locks closed while the dive teams were deployed. " May 17, 12 5:35 PM

Not true. Their is always a person in the "lock house". Yes, the west section of locks are timed. I know what I was listening to that day. A lady cop at the canal, had made that call to the police dispatch.
I have also listened and seen...when the Shinnecock Coast Guard has to do an emergency call and head northbound thru the canal. They will call ahead and have both locks on east side held open so they can fly thru . " May 18, 12 8:58 PM
