Altschuler balks; debate with Bishop canceled

I am supporting ALL teaparty candidates because I want Sarah Palin to be our next president. Her wit, charm, and intelligence far surpass that of all other candidates. And I like Christine O'Donnell, too. She is cute and witchy (but in a good way) and she has cast her spell on me! Yes, I do believe we should abolish the minimum wage, the EPA, the department of Education and healthcare and that America should go back to the constitution which clearly states that the founders believed in Jesus the savior and that it should be each man for himself! If you do not agree, you should be deported!" Oct 13, 10 9:48 AM

Right on, duckey! I've had enough of these socialists trying to take over America! I would rather send hundreds of thousands of jobs overseas than to vote for a democrat. Sure, Bishop stands up for the people, but folks like you and I have to make sure that someone stands up for the corporations, whether he comes from here or not! Take back the constitution! " Oct 13, 10 12:05 PM

Why so down on me, brother? I am just like you - a proud, fiscal conservative who hates socialism, immigrants, moderates and demokrats. Why try to insult me by saying I'm like Timmy? Come on, razza5350, let's fight these commies TOGETHER! " Oct 13, 10 12:14 PM

I do not understand why all of my fellow wingnuts are turning on me?! Joe Hampton, you are me - I am you. We should not fight, but unite in the fight against a tyrannical government that wants us to drink clean water and insure sick kids! We have to fight these Marxists and their death panels just like Sister Sarah told us to.

it is like you said in January of this year my brother in arms, "reaganomics works! this bogus health-care reform is going to destroy us ...and then when we are like France you will be happy. God help us!"

I don't want to live like the French. Yes, God - help us! But don't turn your back on me, joe hampton. I am not a witch. I'm you.
" Oct 13, 10 1:50 PM

You got that right, 27dan! We must rally, fellow patriots! The SHP is a marxist, socialist tool of the Hollywood liberal elite. We need more groups like the Chamber of Commerce to go out and raise that foreign money to help us win this thing. You hear that China, India, even France - we sane conservatives need your cash and guess what - we can assure your anonymity, so don't be afraid - give with impunity!

27dan, like you, at times like these I like to remember the wise words of Ronnie Reagan who said, "I believe in the idea of amnesty for those who have put down roots and lived here, even though sometime back they may have entered illegally." -oops, wrong quote - I'll have to find the one I was looking for

Onward, fellow patriots. Le'ts win one for the Gipper!" Oct 13, 10 2:53 PM

You tell him, Ronnie! He probably IS a communist sympathizer! Where is good old Joe McCarthy when you need him. We have got to bring back the blacklist in this country. Yeah, the free market has made a few people unbelievably rich on the backs of the middle class, but the rich deserve money and the poor do not and only a communist, maoist, marxist would believe otherwise.

The big bang did not make this planet - the free market did and until you pinkos stop believing in science and face the facts we will never get ahead. 27dan and I applaud Randy Altschuler for outsourcing tens of thousands American jobs to India - he has proved that the free market works! " Oct 13, 10 5:17 PM

Yeah, POWER TO THE PEOPLE, "Sweetie". And, yes, that is how we true conservatives speak to women! RIght on, Justduckey, our grassroots teaparty movement, funded by Dick Armey and Newt Gingrich and made real by Fox News, is a movement of the people! That's right, Dick, Newt and corporations like Fox ARE people - just ask the supreme court. At least we're not bureaucrats or commies!

27dan, justducky, big razza, joe hampton, ice and I are grass roots, man! And we are united in a brotherhood to stop the government from actually governing. To keep the government from forcing us into socialism with things like the minimum wage, medicare, SOCIAL security (they don't even try to hide that one), public schools, forcing well-meaning private insurers to actually cover people! To he__ with all that! Fight on my, teaparty brethren. Let's make Mr. Beck proud!" Oct 14, 10 8:51 AM

Clashing ideas about jobs dominate congressional race

Once again, joe, you've hit the nail on the head. So what if Altschuler sent tens of thousands of good-paying US jobs to India? The real problem is not sending jobs away, but the unions who fight to keep jobs here! The unions want American workers to be protected and well-paid, but how does that benefit management and business owners like Randy? It doesn't.

Randy and the Chamber of Commerce should be a model to all patriotic, constitution following Americans - who cares if foreign money influences politics, as long as we reserve the right to make millions on the backs of our fellow citizens. That is what our founding fathers wanted and only a Maoist would try to take that away from Mr. Altschuler and other outsourcing millionaires!

Don't worry, brother joe, I'll stand by you and show these socialist what a real American sounds like." Oct 14, 10 12:52 PM

Right on, goldenrod. Outsourcing jobs to India is actually BETTER for our economy than creating new, high paying jobs right here! Why don't these commies get that. Yeah, your cousin could have done the "right" thing and tried to hire unemployed folks here, but sending those jobs to India not only allows him to pay his employees $2/hour, but he also gets the benefit of payroll tax breaks!

As for those folks who call his help center and are p-o'd that they got some guy in India they can;t understand, yeah, they might not want to do business with you again, but that is only because they do not understand the power of the free market! That is one smart, patriotic American. God bless outsourcing. " Oct 14, 10 12:56 PM

You tell them, justduckey. Those leftist elitists are always trying to talk over our heads. Yeah, we may not understand what they're saying, but I can tell you this - we can scream louder than them and we have absolutely MASTERED the art of changing the subject and confusing them with nonsense talk! Hey, peoplefirst, I bet you thought ducky's posts were intentionally confusing and garbled! Haha! Hook, line, sinker!

I'm with ya, ducky. Good to see my fellow teabaggers fighting this communist insurgency that would like to stop good, honest, outsourcers like Randy from sending tens of thousands of jobs to India to create 2 or 3 here! God bless America and God bless cheap foreign labor." Oct 14, 10 1:01 PM

Joke? Did I miss something, duckey, I mean, I am pro-chamber just like you and you know I only watch FOX, bro. Oh, I get it, you're trying to fool the lefties! Good one, duckey. Hey, you should join joe hampton and me for our party. " Oct 14, 10 2:13 PM

Are you making fun of someone? Good one, dude! Yeah, that Chris Matthews is such a commie, isn't he?Good to see another teabagger has decided to join us! (psst - I won't tell anyone who you really are?) Keep up the good work, my brother and let's fight those Marxists with all we've got!" Oct 14, 10 3:33 PM

Hasn't California been governed by a Republican for a number of years? Ah, who cares?! Yeah, won't it be sweet if we take the house, joe? Just imagine a room full of teapartiers saying no to everything! We could shut down the government and then where would all those irresponsible states go for handouts? What do they think that "United" States of America means we all stand together? Forget it!! Each man and each state for himself, that's what we say.

Hey, did you see we have a new tea partier, They Call Me! He wanted to use Joe McCarthy so I switched to Dick Armey - their both sweet anyway so I was happy to do it. This They Call Me dude is really funny, though. He is like satirizing liberals. Hah! I bet they don't even get it. Don't forget about my party idea, we can invite They Call Me to come too!" Oct 14, 10 4:00 PM

Yeah, I sure got him, eh! I think he's a secret communist anyway. Check it out - I wanted to let They Call Me Use Dick Armey so I switched to Dick Cheney and now we've got almost all of the bases covered? Let me know if you want to switch again They Call Me 'cause I'm thinking of adding another Dick to the list. Maybe Nixon this time! See you soon, guys" Oct 14, 10 4:52 PM

Get him, big Razza! Don't let him try to confuse us with that Marxist talk! All of these crazy progressives and their nonsensical rants about clean water and medicare - two things real men can live without. (you're not on medicare or social security are you?)

Yeah, so what, we use public roads and sewers and police and firemen, but that's different because Obama didn't invent those things - or maybe he did! If so, we'll stop using them! The Chamber of Commerce can fund our own roads and clean water, and stuff and guess what - NO COMMUNISTS ALLOWED! Well, Chinese communists only because they'd help fund it, but NO OTHER COMMUNISTS!

Hey, big razza, do you want to come to the teaparty I'm having with joe hampton,The Call Me, and that guy that uses that don't tread on me flag?" Oct 14, 10 8:21 PM

Yessiree, yessiree! Against sending tens of thousands American jobs to India?! This guy MUST be hitting the bong pretty hard! I am with you, bud. These socialists that want to keep American jobs here! HAH! Its called the free market, baby and it means you do everything and anything you can to make as much money as you can as quickly as you can. Its right there in the constitution lefties, if you ever bothered reading it. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - money = happiness.

Is it Randy's job to think about people losing jobs! Hell no! He is doing what every, right-thinking teapartier must do to move this country forward - he is looking out for number 1. Next thing you know people are going to actually want him to pay taxes on all that foreign money! Hah. " Oct 15, 10 6:27 PM

Nobody can play the race card like you, joe! You get 'em! " Oct 15, 10 6:30 PM

Altschuler, Bishop Will Take Part In Campaign Event On Thursday

Darn tootin, joe hampton. Just because we lost 4 million jobs in the months before Obummer took office and 700,000 jobs a month when moved into the oval office, they wanna blame bush for this economy! Hah! Where were the dems when Obama was pushing that TARP bank bailout - oh, that was Bush and Paulson, scratch that.

At least Randy Altschuler knows how to create jobs. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the jobs he creates are in India, but so what, they're jobs aren't they. " Oct 18, 10 10:01 PM

Yeah, you don't see us conservatives calling names or trying to stereotype entire groups of people - unless they're muslims or latinos, but they deserve it." Oct 18, 10 10:03 PM

This Year, An Election Year Battle For Bishop

Yeah, don't tread on us, you liberal commies! And don't bring up the fact that Bush increased the debt from 3 trillion to 11 trillion not even counting the wars he fought off the books because, well, because we teabaggers just don't care! Our concern is protecting the constitution from Maoist, job-creating, lefties like Tim Bishop.

Hey, Captn, we gotta have some tea together man. By the way, do you know Randy personally. I'm thinking of spending some time in India and I'm gonna need work over there so if you could hook me up that would be sweet, bro! Thanks! KEEP ON BAGGIN'!" Oct 21, 10 10:28 AM

No doubt, dude. I mean, guys have been overfishing these waters for freaking years and Timmy knows it but why hasn't he done nothing to restock the waters? There's a question I'd like to hear him answer. And don't tell me he fought to keep the waters clean and safe cause fish don't care." Oct 21, 10 10:31 AM

Yeah, we don't care enough to respond to any challenge we can't actually answer! Dylan32, you have mastered the teabagger art of issue avoidance after only 49 comments and your talking points are spot on - impressive! I gotta have tea with you too! KEEP ON BAGGIN'!

" Oct 21, 10 12:08 PM

Yeah, you progressives and your WOMEN! No real man listens to a woman, let alone an entire league of women! And, no, we don't care that the league is one of the most well-respected, non-partisan groups in the history of the American politics - we are teapartiers and we have no place for women, gays or minorities and their bigotry against the white man!

Mackt is a true voice of the teaparty - a true patriot who believes that the founders (all of whom loved Jesus, but the way you pinko atheists) wanted men to rule. That is nature's way. Me and my teabag compatriots are voting republican because we know the value of keeping rich, white men at the helm of American politics. Sure, Mackt and I are not among the wealthy, white ruling class - but, as good, red-blooded patriots, our minds are theirs for the taking!

Keep on baggin'!" Oct 25, 10 1:26 PM

Yeah, we support the teaparty because they are the party of millionaires and we hope to one day be one of them! Well, said, yesiree! And don't be fooled, while we are waiting to BE millionaires, we are more than happy to be their tools.

Granted, thy millionaires do not want us to become millionaires and they work against us at every turn, but we understand them and one day we will be as exclusionary as they are! F___ the poor! Long live the outsourcing American Millionaire, and if you don't like it move to INDIA - maybe Randy will help you get a job." Oct 25, 10 1:29 PM

Yeah, why are you pinko commies declaring war on America's responsible outsourcers!? Do you understand how rich, white America works? It is the free market, dude, which means you are free to eff over whoever you can to get to the top! If that means sending tens of thousands of well-paying American jobs to India, so be it. As Randy himself said, the Indian worker is superior to Americans anyway! " Oct 25, 10 1:32 PM

Yeah, Randy didn't send those 40,000 jobs to India, congress did that! Randy was just a good-old, red-blooded, greed-is-good American businessman who took advantage of what the Republicans made it easy for him to do. So a few thousand American lost their jobs, so what? And captn America is right. Our corporations are taxed at 35%!!! 35%!!

Yeah, Citibank, Bank of America, GE and others paid 0 dollars in taxes last year thanks to loopholes and government giveaways, but that's the free market baby and if you don't like it leave!!" Oct 25, 10 1:37 PM

EDITORIAL: We Mark Our Ballot

Yeah, I want a president like W who was as dumb as the average voter and spoke to us using words we understand! Obama thinks he's all that with his vocabulary and his "intelligence"! Hah! Who needs it? Look at sister Sarah, she thought Africa was a country, but at least she knows how to talk down to us while still staying right at our level.

Keep on baggin' and remember, if a candidate seems qualified, don' t vote for him!" Oct 28, 10 4:32 PM

Listen to hmptnlocal, folks! She is a true teaparty patriot who knows that if you see more than one black man standing outside a voting place, they are definitely there to try to scare you away - or maybe even kill you! So what if it happened in a black district where 98% of the voters voted Obama? They were black and they were congregating. Nuff said. Don't even get us started on how bad them Muslims are, right hmptnlcl?!

As you can see, she never judged a person and she learned her lesson that you should never actually donate anything to a food shelter where there are black men with bow ties! And don't go calling her a racist all you pinko lefties! Just because someone says overtly racist things DOES NOT make them a racist!

Keep on baggin' my fellow patriots and remember, never vote for a muslim!" Oct 28, 10 4:38 PM

hmptnlocal, Excellent use of talking points, really! I am still trying to get them down but you are a great example to learn from! You even managed to get "socialist" and "dictator" in the same sentence AND attack the liberal media (although I always wondered how does FOX fit into that label)

Listen to her, folks. She is a true patriot who knows the difference between a real American and a liberal, socialist, maoist, agitator (how as that?!) Keep on baggin', local - you've gotta meet joe hampton and mackt - you'd love them! They hate different people too!

" Oct 28, 10 5:51 PM

Yeah, so we're dumb and bigoted? At least we're not communists! MackT, why you hating on me, dude, I am you. We gotta stick together, my teabagging compatriot! Love ya, bro!" Oct 28, 10 5:53 PM

I am not being sarcastic, my teaparty compatriot! I don't understand why you don't get it. What have I said that my fellow baggers have not? NOTHING! I've got no point to make beyond a teaparty patriot platform that is near and dear to my heart and yours: get the government out of our lives, make abortion illegal and erase the separation of church and state, abolish that Obamacare plan that actually forces private, free-market insurance companies to cover sick people, arrest people that look illegal, get rid of clean drinking water, clean energy and mexicans and stomp on liberal necks! Keep on baggin', bro, and, like our compatriot from Connecticut once said, "I'm you"" Oct 28, 10 9:31 PM

joe hampton is right! Those commie, maoists on the left HATE America! It is clear as the oil stain on Dick Cheney's forehead! They want to regulate oil companies, make mines safe for workers, create clean energy jobs, stop bigotry, and prevent banks from doing as they please - and they are actually proud of it! Mackt and joe hampton, our republic cannot be allowed to remain in the hands of women who want to choose and loonies who want clean drinking water!

We need to get government out of our lives! That is why I and my fellow teapartiers support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and a federal law banning abortion, so we can keep things at the state level. Why don't they get that?! They think America is about tolerance, but they are wrong! The founding fathers would have given corporations the same rights as individual citizens, because they would have embraced the FREE market. Get it, commies, FREE market, you dumb liberal sissies!

Thank god for good old fashioned, middle age white men like, true patriots like joe hampton and mack t, big razza, captn America and even a woman like hmptnlocal! They would never allow a woman the right to choose or someone whose been working here for 20 years to become a citizen! They wont' allow the government to tell banks they cannot raise credit card rates or to tell coal mine owners that they must keep working conditions safe because they HATE America. They hate OUR America!! White America!! And they are all nothing but a bunch of commie sympathizers that don' t deserve to be called Americans.

Teapartiers - yeah we are full of hate and anger, but we only hate those who think different than us because WE ARE PATRIOTS like sarah palin, sharon angle, christine o'donnell and ken buck!! They know what it means to keep the feds out of our lives and they know there should be a federal law banning those baby killing marxists! KEEP ON BAGGIN!" Oct 29, 10 8:12 AM

Ballot Count Begins; Altschuler Travels To Washington

Yeah, what do you want guys like Randy to do? Keep jobs here?! Give us a break, you commie lefties! Sure, Randy shipped tens of thousands of US jobs to India, but he only did it to make money! Ever heard of the "FREE Market"?! That means Randy is free to make money by any means possible and he does, so what?

RealityFirst is right, Randy could have sneaked over illegals to do his job, but that would have cost money and time and, besides, like Randy said, there is a better class of worker in India than in the US.

A real business man like Randy does not let a little thing like democracy stop him from making money. Why should he wait for a vote count? " Nov 12, 10 2:48 PM

Listen, I am the last one that would actually encourage someone to act on principal! Like you, I believe that principals have no place in the free market! I applaud Randy for looking after number one. (by the way, I think its "principle" not "principal", not that I'd ever question a fellow patriot!)

And your right it was well worth sacrificing ten thousand working class jobs to save the skin of the one or two hundred upper management patriots - trickle down, people! It works!" Nov 12, 10 3:19 PM

Hey, bro, I am on your side! Randy was only trying make his fortune. By the way, what I said was what you said, the high paying management jobs were CREATED by outsourcing 10,000 jobs to India and I support Randy 1000% in his un-principled desire to make as much moolah as possible! Dude, I am a free market-patriot! I don't need any business experience to know that my man Randy got fat on the backs of the average worker - I only wish I could do the same! Keep on baggin', bro and fight the REAL power, those communist union Marxists who want to help the little guy. Yeah, right! Not in our America!!" Nov 12, 10 3:39 PM

The baggers helped us keep the senate and it looks like these unthinking, dittoheads are going to help us in 2010 as well!

"The number of Americans viewing Sarah Palin unfavorably has hit the highest point since she burst onto the national stage over two years ago, according to a poll out Friday.

The Gallup survey conducted in the days after the Nov. 2 election found more than half of Americans -- 52 percent -- hold a negative opinion of the former Alaska governor. Only 40 percent viewed her favorably, which ties her lowest score from about a year ago.

Palin, the GOP's vice presidential candidate in 2008, is among Republican names being floated as a possible presidential pick in two years time. The poll found she might have a good chance of capturing the nomination: fully 80 percent of Republicans have a positive opinion of her. "" Nov 13, 10 3:06 PM

Now, now reality-first, aren't you the same teabagging dittohead that cried about being called names? Do unto others, bagger. Do unto others. " Nov 13, 10 3:10 PM

Joe is the anti-intellects hero. " Nov 13, 10 3:11 PM

I know it is hard to swallow the truth with that teabag lodged in your throat, but at least attempt to use what little bit of intellect you may actually possess." Nov 13, 10 3:12 PM

Oh, there's big, brave Razza attacking the immigrants again. Why? Because he and his ilk are the worst kind of cowards. They fight those who can't fight back and they play the puppet for folks like Dick Armey and their corporate overlords.

The weakest among us always scapegoat those at the very bottom of society. A teabagger is nothing more than a fascist tool." Nov 13, 10 3:15 PM

1. For folks like you it is anyone who looks Latino.
2. You may not consider yourself an official member, but you spew their talking points as though you were the founder
3. Undocumented workers are a NET POSITIVE to our country. Period. Fact. If you were to deport 12 million workers our economy would collapse. And, yes, they do jobs that Americans won't.
4. "I know you are but what am I"" Nov 13, 10 6:25 PM

Oh, shut up." Nov 13, 10 9:47 PM

Msmarple is vying for the role of most ignorant, rightwing dittohead on 27East and she is pretty close to beating little razza" Nov 13, 10 9:49 PM

You folks on the right need to wake up and face reality of what a plutocracy really looks like. Read this: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/14/us/politics/14coats.html?_r=1" Nov 14, 10 8:59 AM

captn, could you just once admit the truth, please. Just once. The republicans want to give permanent tax breaks to the rich, they want to lower the tax rate for massive corporations that already pay next to nothing after loop holes, the right-appointed activist supreme court just ruled that corporations are people, they blocked a bill that would have stopped tax breaks for outsourcing, they blocked subpoena power in the investigation of BP, the want to deregulate, they blocked campaign finance reform, the list goes on and on and to deny it is to deny there is a difference in philosophy between the parties is pure nonsense.

Term limits? I support them, always have, but that makes no difference to the fact that the republicans are the party of plutocrats. " Nov 14, 10 11:04 AM

When the average middle class worker pays at a higher tax rate than a billion dollar corporation, we have a problem. Every plutocracy needs its complicit tool and that role is filled with stunningly ignorant blindness by folks like you and the captn. If you think it is fair that GE paid zero tax dollars in 2009 because of loopholes, then you are a plutocrat. Small businesses (not the republican definition which includes billion dollar hedge funds) are the economic engine of this country. " Nov 14, 10 4:21 PM

"most of the school age families do not pay taxes" It is the blatant, boastful ignorance of the right that is simply beyond all reason. Seriously, you folks scream and yell but never take time to think.

To attend a public school, you must live in that school's district (and YES, they DO CHECK). That means you live in a house or an apartment. That house or apartment, if you do not own it, belongs to someone who does. That person pays property taxes with the income from your rent. Those property taxes pay for schools. By the way, the rich pay a lower tax rate than middle class Americans and 95% of ALL AMERICANS are paying less taxes now than they have since the 1950's. " Nov 15, 10 9:28 AM

Hey, capt'n bagger, guess what, despite all of your screaming and yelling to convince folks otherwise, the insurance industry is STILL controlled by private insurers. The rate increases, which have gone up steadily every year for as long as anyone can remember, have nothing to do with "obamacare". " Nov 15, 10 9:30 AM

Some more for you to chew on, capt'n bagger: If "Obamacare" is such a terrible gov't takeover, then how do you explain that health insurance profits are skyrocketing in 2010 compared to last year's returns? Not that you care as you would rather see a fellow American go uninsured than to see gov't try to control these criminals. " Nov 15, 10 11:41 AM

Nonsense. In my district they come to the door and check every single year. Period. And when they have found violators, they have been removed and I have seen it happen.

As for the rest, you would deny a child, any child, a free lunch? " Nov 15, 10 12:02 PM

Life with the teaparty:

"In the video, the Neo-Nazi march organizer, J.T. Ready, can be seen explaining to a group of protesters that the assault of his members is not acceptable.

Ready reportedly shares a connection to SB-1070 architect and Arizona state Rep. Russell Pearce (R).

Though Pearce denied having knowledge of Ready's involvement with the National Socialist Movement during his alleged proximity to the group's organizer in 2007, when Ready was in the midst of being ousted from a low-level GOP post, a video released last year showed Pearce in attendance at a 2009 rally headlined by Ready.

As ThinkProgress points out, the alliance between white-supremacy groups and Arizona's anti-illegal immigration legislation appears to be more than a matter of personal associations.

According to an immigration report from change.org earlier this year, numerous groups linked to white nationalist causes have provided monetary support to Arizona's SB-1070, both in its early stages as well as to its legal defense fund."" Nov 15, 10 12:03 PM

I don't want my tax dollars paying for some bigot's children to go to school." Nov 15, 10 12:04 PM

This just in: Randy mistakenly shows up for orientation at Indian Embassy." Nov 15, 10 1:21 PM

This is the party about to take control and before you teabagging dittoheads deride the source, it is the conservative propaganda rag The Washington Post. Americans, fear for our future.

Republican irresponsibility on START
By Adam Serwer
The Republican attempt to derail ratification of the new START arms control treaty with Russia is a reminder of how far the GOP is willing to go merely to deal the president a political defeat.

Ratification of the new START treaty shouldn't be controversial. It maintains a basic trend in the reduction of the U.S. and Russia's nuclear arsenals that started in the 1980s, when the first START treaty was proposed by President Reagan, signed by his successor, George H.W. Bush, and ratified by the Senate by overwhelming margins. The current military leadership and a number of Republican foreign policy experts, including Former Secretaries of State James Baker, George Schultz, Henry Kissinger and Colin Powell have urged ratification, and three Senate Republicans actually voted the treaty out of committee. That's left the arguments against ratification to the GOP's foreign policy fringe, whose objections -- that the treaty leaves the U.S. with "only" thousands of nuclear weapons, undermines U.S. efforts at missile defense, and limits the use of conventional warheads -- are as Fred Kaplan points out, basically nonsense. That hasn't stopped conservatives from engaging in a dishonest propaganda campaign against the treaty, hoping to deal the president a humiliating political defeat." Nov 17, 10 12:59 PM

kayleesh, what a classy chic you are. Typical of the sexually frustrated the right-wing female. Don't blame philathome because your husband refuses you." Nov 17, 10 1:02 PM

The Washington Post is a one of the most liberal newspapers in the country? Mr. Wheeler, at least try to begin your argument from a foundation of reality. You have bought this whole lie of the "liberal media" when, in fact, it is the exact opposite. The Washington Post has one of the most conservative editorial pages in the business and that is how you determine which way a paper leans.

I suggest you read this:

"When I began thinking about doing a column about recent developments on The Washington Post editorial page, I was torn between focusing on its increasing conservatism and its overall badness. The problem, however, is that the two appear inextricably linked. Is the problem with George Will’s constant global warming denialism ideological or intellectual? Is David Broder’s misinformed love letter to Sarah Palin indicative of a desire to ingratiate himself to Republican Tea Partiers or continued evidence of the deterioration of his ability to apply common sense to political analysis? Was the Post’s decision to add former Bush administration official and vocal pro-torture advocate Marc Thiessen to its bevy of pro-torture advocates and former Republican officials more important for its right-wing tilt or its implied contempt for traditional journalistic values? Hard to say, really."

If you happen to be sick and poor and are among the 98 people in Arizona who are awaiting state-funded organ transplants, you've just been handed a death sentence.

This morning, NPR reported on cuts to the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), the statewide health care provider for poor and disabled people. AHCCCS said it would pay for organ transplant procedures, then went back and reversed itself, citing risk evidence that critics say was tailored to give them cover for this unthinkable action.

Instead of trying to save the lives of these people, who had been told that they had a chance to spend a few more years with their families, the Arizona legislature has chosen to take away their hope in order to save an estimated $4.5 million.

Facing a projected $1.5 billion budget deficit, the state of Arizona has decided to make poor people pay with their lives instead of making rich people pay with their treasure." Nov 17, 10 2:56 PM

Senate Republicans Vote Unanimously Against Bill to Help Guarantee Fair Pay for Women
Wednesday 17 November 2010
by: Rebecca Lefton | Think Progress | Report

Today, Senate Republicans voted unanimously against legislation to close the pay gap between women and men. The Senate voted 58-41 against allowing debate on the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would help end discriminatory pay practices against women. It had already passed the House.

More than 45 years after passage of the Equal Pay Act, the pay gap shockingly persists with women still earning on average 77 cents to every man’s dollar. According to the National Women’s Law Center, “This persistent pay gap translates to more than $10,000 in lost wages per year for the average female worker.” The gap is even worse for women of color: African-American women earn 61 cents and Latinas earn 52 cents for every dollar a white non-Hispanic man earns." How about we cut the crap and speak some truth. The last couple of days have shown us just what a colossal mistake Americans made this election and the party of f-u has not even taken power.

Yesterday every single Republican voted AGAINST fair pay for women. Every single one. And now they are threatening to block ratification of the START treaty. Every single president and every single secretary of state since and including Ronald Reagan has recognized the importance of this treaty to our national security and our place in this world and it has ALWAYS been ratified by margins of 95 to 5 and 99 to 0.

But not now. Not in this world of republican sobs who don't give a flying f___ about this country or its citizens. They only want to destroy the president and they don't care how. They don't care. Period. Fact. End of story. Today's NY Times editorial pretty much sums it up:

"After months of negotiations with the White House, he has decided to try to block the lame-duck Senate from ratifying the New Start arms control treaty.
The treaty is so central to this country’s national security, and the objections from Mr. Kyl — and apparently the whole Republican leadership — are so absurd that the only explanation is their limitless desire to deny President Obama any legislative success.

The Republicans like to claim that they are the party of national security. We can only hope that other senators in the party will decide that the nation’s security interests must trump political maneuvering."

If this is the kind of country the rethugs want one more outsourcing dittohead will not make much of a difference. " Nov 18, 10 1:37 PM

Anyone interested in reasoned, sane, factual information on the truth behind tax cuts read the article here http://www.truth-out.org/the-great-tax-cut-debate-myths-and-facts65294

an excerpt:

"Republicans portray the Bush tax cuts as similar to President John F. Kennedy's. That is a poor analogy. Kennedy cut the top tax rate from an exorbitant 91 percent to 70 percent. In contrast, Bush cut the top tax rate from a historically low 39.6 percent to 35 percent. By increasing enforcement and cracking down on loopholes, including the use of foreign subsidiaries for tax evasion, Kennedy increased government revenue. On the other hand, the Bush rich tax cuts will cost the nation $700 billion dollars in government revenue, and Republicans are fighting limiting outsourcing and foreign loopholes. In part due to a smart taxation policy, Kennedy created 1.2 million jobs per year in office; Bush was losing 700,000 jobs a month his last year.

The current political climate is hostile to real accountability – and to the kind of journalism that keeps accountability alive. Keep lawmakers and corporations in check by supporting Truthout today.

"Trickle-down" economics has not worked since Herbert Hoover tried it. Every dollar devoted to the middle class causes the economy to grow three times faster than a dollar for the rich, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Millionaires save more of their income gained by tax cuts. Middle-class families spend more. Lower taxes for the rich leave deficits that must be paid for by the middle class, taking the very money we'd give working families.

Since 1900, Democratic presidents have produced a 12.3 percent annual return on the S&P 500, Republicans only 8 percent. GDP growth since 1930 is 5.4 percent for Democratic presidents and 1.6 percent for Republicans."" Nov 21, 10 12:21 PM

from CBS NEWS:

"President Obama stayed for three days in India in order to discuss economic relations between the two countries as well as offering support to India in its attempt to get a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. Obama dismissed the popular notion that outsourcing has led to India taking American jobs, instead he painted his trip as one encouraging the Indian government to open the country’s market to American exports, thereby creating jobs for Americans. The CBS Evening News has reported that a series of 6 separate deals that have been in the works between Indian and U.S. businesses would create 50,000 American jobs."" Nov 21, 10 1:42 PM

Yeah, if they apply to the middle class, not the rich. The left is for TAX CUTS TO THE MIDDLE CLASS - those making 250,000 and under so try to pay attention.

You want to talk about something that is not up for discussion: In 2009 Americans paid the lowest tax rate since the 1950's! That is a freaking FACT so try to wrap your head around it.

"Amid complaints about high taxes and calls for a smaller government, Americans paid their lowest level of taxes last year since Harry Truman's presidency, a USA TODAY analysis of federal data found."

Amid Recession, Tax Bills in 2009 at Lowest Level Since 1950

Federal, state and local taxes — including income, property, sales and other taxes — consumed 9.2% of all personal income in 2009, the lowest rate since 1950, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reports. That rate is far below the historic average of 12% for the last half-century. The overall tax burden hit bottom in December at 8.8.% of income before rising slightly in the first three months of 2010.

WASHINGTON -- Billionaire Warren Buffett rebutted claims that the Obama administration is unjustly hurting business orders with high taxes by saying that in fact, the wealthy have never had it so good.

"I think that people at the high end, people like myself, should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we've ever had it," he told ABC's Christiane Amanpour in a clip played on "This Week" on Sunday.

When Amanpour pointed to critics' claims that the very wealthy need tax cuts to spur business and capitalism, Buffett replied, "The rich are always going to say that, you know, 'Just give us more money, and we'll go out and spend more, and then it will all trickle down to the rest of you.' But that has not worked the last 10 years, and I hope the American public is catching on."" Nov 21, 10 2:13 PM

5. 6. After the 1983 bombing of a Marine barracks in Beirut, Reagan was urged by some to surge more troops into the region. Instead, he ordered the Marines to begin withdrawal from Lebanon. Strike six.

7. Reagan acknowledged that during his presidency the U.S. sold weapons to Iran. Strike seven.

8. Reagan was the first president to invite an openly gay couple to spend the night in the White House, and he famously argued that gays and lesbians should not be discriminated against in a 1978 television advertising campaign. Strike eight.

9. Shortly after his inauguration as governor of California, Reagan signed into law the most liberal abortion statute of its day. Strike nine.
